Der Beginn eines neuen Abschnitts. Nach eineinhalb Dekaden stehen THARSYS am Ende einer grossen Entwicklungsphase. Klangen die Songs ihrer ersten beiden Alben noch schlichter und urspruenglicher, zeigt das neue Werk „Under Her Dead Hands“ eine deutlich gereifte und zusammengerueckte Einheit, die ihr Potenzial erstmals im Studio abrufen konnte.
Der Stil des Sextetts ist schwer einzuordnen und mit den gaengigen Kategorien nur unzureichend zu beschreiben. Die Verbindung aus harten Gitarrenriffs und sanften Melodien reicht bis in den Gothic und Doom Metal, aber man hat mehr zu bieten als die verbreitete Schwarzweissmalerei zwischen Gut und Boese, Anmut und Haesslichkeit, Finsternis und Licht.
Angetrieben von einem Gesangsduo, das es versteht, Melancholie und Herzschmerz genauso zu transportieren wie brachiale Gewalt, klingt kein Stueck wie das andere. Und doch fuegt sich alles zu einem grossen Ganzen zusammen, dem THARSYS-Sound. Variable Arrangements stuetzen die musikalische Vielfalt; die Suche nach der idealen Vertonung eines Themas, einer Stimmung oder eines einzelnen Gefuehls ist der erklaerte Weg zum Ziel.
Songs ueber Gott, Tod, Trennung, Liebe und Enttaeuschung sind keine Gute-Nacht-Musik fuer Traeumer. THARSYS polarisieren und verbinden zugleich, erheben aber nicht den Anspruch, die Musik neu zu definieren. Musik ist keine Wissenschaft. Wenn jedes Extrem ausgelotet und jede Genregrenze abgesteckt ist, kann es nur um den Song gehen, der Emotionen freisetzt. Ob die Band das erreicht entscheidet der Hoerer.

The beginning of new episode. After fifteen years THARSYS has now reached the end of a huge development phase. While the songs of their first two records reflected rawness and crudity, their latest effort "Under Her Dead Hands" shows a decisively matured band that could tap their full potential for the first time.
The musical style is difficult to outline and can only be insufficiently captured by the popular categories. The conjunction of harsh guitar riffs and soft melodies reach into the gothic and doom metal, but THARSYS has much more to offer than the conventional dichotomies of good and bad, beauty and ugliness, gloom and light.
Driven by a vocal duo that pre-eminently manages to bring across melancholy and heartache as well as brute force, no piece equals another. Despite, the parts make an ordered whole, the THARSYS sound. Erratic arrangements support the musical diversity, the search for the ideal scoring of a certain topic, a special mood or a single emotion is the way to reach the goal.
Songs about God, death, separation and disappointment are not goodnight music for dreamers. THARSYS polarizes and unifies at the same time, but does not claim to reinvent the music. Music is not science. With every extreme fathomed and every genre boundary defined, the song has to provoke an emotion. Whether the band succeeds in their intention and is able to establish a connection with the audience, is up to each and every listener.
